On the road again

We’re passing the time in the Qantas Club in Brisbane International Airport – Helen’s first time in one of these places. Very nice, especially the toilets.

Just got off a sleepless 4-hour flight Perth to Brisbane in cattle-class so the only thing on my mind was a very strong coffee so I made a cappuccino with an extra shot of espresso and half the foamed milk. That did the trick. Also had some toast and Vegemite. It’s 6:30 a.m. and one guy made himself a gin and tonic! A bit early in my book.

Victor’s using one of the internet PCs to adjust his superannuation investments. I’m sitting on a comfy couch with my little Acer Aspire laptop, adding to my blog. I am so looking forward to getting on that Brisbane to L.A. flight where we’ll be in first-class, not business class as we first thought. I’ll certainly blog on that experience!

Five more sleeps

The time is just flying and our departure date is just around the corner. I can’t believe how fast it’s coming up. I hope the holiday doesn’t move so fast. I’m excited and a bit nervous. Leaving the kids on their own, even though they’re adults, is the one not-so-good aspect of our holiday. We’ve always traveled together with them, except for the two weeks we were away for Victor’s dad’s funeral in 2007.

It will be weird for me to not have them along but at the same time quite liberating. We’ll be able to do what we want, when we want, without having to consider their interests which can be different to ours at times. Regardless, it will take some getting used to.

Blogging Practise

I’ve decided to create a blog of our upcoming trip to the US and Canada in May and June. It will be a good keepsake for us as well as a way to keep in touch with friends and family as we’re on the road.

I’m totally new at this so I’ll do a few practise posts before our trip so this blog won’t be too disastrous. I’ll have to figure out how to add pictures as a travel blog without pictures would be a bit odd.
